Terms of use

MX Verdict offers free tools for DNS and email settings, such as record lookups, domain checks and a DMARC report analyzer. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to pay. We may add, change or remove tools at any time.

The checks send real queries to other people's servers. To keep that harmless:

• Check domains you run, work for, or have another legitimate reason to look at. Do not use the tools to map other people's infrastructure in bulk.
• Respect the rate limits (for example 10 checks per 60 seconds from one address). Do not get around them by rotating addresses, running many clients or scripting the pages.
• Do not use the mail server checks to put load on mail servers. They only greet a server and read its answers; running them over and over against the same servers is abuse.
• Do not try to break, overload or probe the site itself, and do not use it to attack anyone else.

We may block addresses or networks that break these rules, without notice. If you need more checks than the limits allow for a legitimate reason, write to [email protected].

The tools can also be called at /api/check/…. The same limits and fair-use rules apply. The API can change without notice while the site is young; if you build on it, tell us, so we can warn you before breaking changes.

DMARC report files you open are read in your browser and never reach us. The names you check are processed as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for having the right to look at what you check.

The service is provided free and as is. Results are automated readings of what DNS and mail servers answered at one moment. They can be incomplete or out of date, a server can answer differently to us than to someone else, and our reading of a standard can be wrong. When we could not find out, the result says “could not check” instead of guessing.

Before you change DNS records or mail settings that matter, check the change against your provider's documentation. We do not promise that the site is always available or free of errors.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the site or from relying on a result, such as lost mail or lost business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, for example for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence.

These terms are governed by the law of Estonia. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. If something goes wrong, please write to [email protected] first; most problems are solved faster that way.
